How will I recognize my tour guide?

Your guide will be waiting at the tour meeting point 10-15 minutes before your tour start time. They will be holding up a sign with the Red Clay Tours logo on it.

What If I’m running late to my tour?

We ask all guests to arrive at the tour meeting point at least 10-15 minutes before the scheduled start time of their tour. It is important that all participants arrive on time so that the tour can start promptly. If you have difficulty finding the meeting point or are delayed along the way, please call us at 205-240-3829.

How far in advance should I book my tour?

It’s difficult to say exactly how far in advance your tour should be booked. We do not run every tour every day, except for a brewery tour, so the sooner the better.

Once on the tour, will I need to pay for anything else?

No. All entry fees or guides are covered in the tour fee. There are no surprises on the tours.

Dinner is not included in the brewery tours fee. There will be opportunities to purchase food along the way, but that cost is not covered in the tour.

Do you accept last-minute bookings?

Yes, we do. You can book up to six hours in advance of the tour. For private tours, please book seven days in advance. If you have any questions, please call us at 205-240-3829 or shoot us an email, info@redclaytourism.com

Should I tip my guide?

We love tips. It’s certainly not required and our guides do not expect a tip, but we do accept tips and greatly appreciate them.

What payment methods do you accept?

All payment must be made by credit card. We cannot accept cash as payment for your tour.

What languages are your tours offered in?

English.

Is there a lot of walking on these tours? Are the tours wheelchair accessible?

There is not a lot of walking, less than an hour, and less than two miles, on almost all of our tours. However, in the summertime it does get quite hot and will make the walking feel a little longer and a little tougher. We can accommodate wheelchairs on some tours, but please reach out to us before booking any tour to ensure there will not be any issue for those guests in need.

Can I bring a stroller on the tour for my small child?

Strollers can be accommodated on private tours tours. Please reach out to us before booking any tour in which a stroller will be needed.

Do I need to bring anything on my tour?

Please bring a copy of your email confirmation and a photo ID with a date of birth. For any tours during summertime, we strongly suggest sunscreen, water, and a hat or umbrella. We also get a decent amount of rain here so please check the weather for the day.

I’m looking out my hotel window and it’s raining, is the tour still running?

Our tours run rain or shine. On some very rare weather issues, we may alter or cancel the tours. We don’t like touring during a tornado or a lightning storm. We will do our best to provide up to the minute updates on our tours. Feel free to call us if you have any questions or concerns.

What’s the difference between a ‘group’ tour and a ‘private’ tour?

Our group tours consist of a single guide paired with a group of no more than 7 other guests, some you may know, some you may not. Private tours are a more personalized service that allow you to tour with just your group, from a group size of 1 to 7.

Is your BBQ Food Tour safe for people with dietary requirements?

We have a fairly set menu for our food tour, but some minor accommodations can be met. Please call or email before booking any food tour if you have questions or concerns regarding food allergies.

Should I eat before the brewery tour?

We don’t like to drink on an empty stomach and suggest you don’t either. Water and small snacks are provided on the tour. There will also be food available at food trucks/stands and restaurants on the tour.

If I am being picked up from the hotel/Airbnb, how early will the vehicle arrive?

We will notify you sooner to the start of the tour. We may have to pick up multiple guests, but you should be ready 30 minutes prior to the start of the tour.

Could my tour get canceled?

It’s not likely, but it’s possible. In the event of severe weather, the tour may be canceled. In the event of a serious issue with your guide, the tour may be canceled as well. We do everything in our power to ensure no tours are canceled. We will attempt to reschedule the tour or issue a refund as quickly as possible.

How long are the tours?

Although tour lengths vary depending on topics, most tours run 3-4 hours.

Where should I park if I am driving to the meeting location?

There is free parking around Railroad Park, and pay parking closer to downtown.
